Faculty play an integral role in the governance of the college.
Faculty members serve as senior officers, chairs of departments and programs, and as the directors of College centers and other initiatives. Faculty members also assist in the conduct of daily business through their membership on the many committees at the College.
Monthly faculty meetings are the central venue for faculty governance. Chaired by the President, faculty meetings serve as a forum for discussion of all issues of importance at the College. The curriculum is approved annually by vote at faculty meeting, and important curricular changes must be approved by the vote of the faculty.
The processes and structures comprising faculty governance are described in the Faculty Handbook. Important changes to this document are debated and voted on at faculty meeting. The membership of several major standing committees is also determined by faculty meeting vote.
