The Mellon Postdoctoral Fellows Program in the Humanities and Social Sciences has been active at Williams since 1998, originally as a grant funded initiative. In 2011 the program was permanently endowed.
The goals of the Mellon postdoctoral program are to enrich the Williams curriculum, to complement faculty expertise in a long-lasting way, and to provide the fellows with guidance in their development as teachers and scholars.
Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowships are appointed full-time for a term of two years and will have a teaching load of one course each semester. In addition to salary at the postdoctoral level, the fellowship provides full benefits including health and dental insurance.
In any given year, the subject area(s) for new postdoctoral positions are determined in the spring and searches are run during the fall semester. Job announcements can be found on the Dean of the Faculty’s positions page. If no postdoctoral positions are listed there, it means that there are no fellowship opportunities coming available.
